Le Belvedere is strategically located from the Esplanade de la Défense and the Cours Valmy. Axel Schoenert architects' approach to the Belvedere was to emphasize urban integration, including the rehabilitation of the façade, the opening to public spaces and the interior design.
Its architecture cannot exist without the rehabilitation of its facades, and especially its northern facade, which opens onto the Cours Valmy and presents the central atrium. This rehabilitation, using mirror-polished sheet metal to "overlay" the existing cladding, reinforces the concave shape that is so distinctive of this building. Its dynamism is brought by the material constituting the cladding sheets. Thus the perception of this curved façade depends on the position of the observer and its immediate environment. Its concave shape invites users to enter the building through a smooth transition from the Cours Valmy, which has a large pedestrian flow.
The entrance patio is recomposed according to an architectural design of bands of paving stones enhanced by two plant beds to accompany the user's path towards the central entrance, the atrium. The glass cube, sleek and contemporary, marks the entrance and allows a central and friendly access to the building through a SAS double-glazed doors accentuated by a touch of elegance with a majestic chandelier by Isa Moss.
The interior design has allowed a significant densification to accommodate a greater number of users for the tenant SPACES. For this, Axel Schoenert architects created a remarkable Chambord staircase, a more flexible layout of work spaces, which can be transformed into coworking space and private offices.
And finally, the creation of the double height of the penultimate floor gives access, via the mezzanine, to the green roof, this "fifth" façade and green lung of the project.
Open to the roof terrace, the mezzanine offers a 360° perspective on the La Défense district and in particular the Grande Arche.
The Belvedere was inaugurated on March 21, 2019.
The entire building, more than 17,000m², was taken over by the coworking company SPACES.
